Solid or clad; steps or cantilevered staircases; traditional or contemporary; inside or outside – we have it all covered …. in stone of course! From our experience this year, British stone has proved to be a popular choice for steps and staircases, offering such versatility in format, finish and colour for all types of projects.
For a touch of tradition you really can't beat a sweeping solid cantilevered staircase. In the images above you can see how we've used Portland Honed throughout for the staircase and edging brackets through to atrium copings.
In a contemporary garden Crawford was used to clad steps, stringer and underside; the photographs show in progress and completed steps. Crawford stone is deep grey in colour, similar to Snowdonian Slate, but with light flecks and swirls resulting from fossil content.
Finally, we have our work in progress shots of Reclaimed York steps that have been hand-made in our factory to a bespoke design with a re-dressed front edge.
